too simple.....

Someone asked me again recently why do I paint.  Oh boy - I could have done the long answer that involves passion, needs, balancing in the world, all the emotional junk, the psychological  junk, and the whole boat load of other complex reasons I paint, but to be honest? I just love paint!! Yah, all the other stuff plays in, but 'oil paint' thrills me.  I love how it moves and changes on a surface - It has a richness and lusciousness that I simply love.  When I told this person, "I just love paint!", there was about a 10 beat silence and then they said, "You love oil paint".  "Yah", I said.  About a 5 beat silence.  I guess the answer was too simple.  They just kept waiting for something more profound.  Finally I said, "well, I have to get back to work".  They said, "ok".  And that was that. Too simple.

I've been back in the studio the past week painting and also getting ready to have a bit of demo work done - going to take out half the wall in the middle of the space.  Now that I've had a year to see how I use the space I can make adjustments that will allow me to utilize the work area better.  I'm excited to have the work done, it will really open up the space and bring more natural light to the front, yet keep a bit of privacy for me to work in.  Will show  pics when I'm all put back together.  In the mean time here is a piece I finished today.

One week into the new year and I can feel the speed starting to pick up.  When I looked at the calendar at the beginning of the year, I had maybe two things on the schedule - not now - things dot almost everyday.  Man how does that happen so fast!!  Until next time.....
