Some of my "social media" friends were ticked off at Martha Stewart for saying that
blogs are just popularity contests. Well, I think she is right!
Some blogs are popularity driven! Not such a bad thing
Some blogs are popularity driven! Not such a bad thing
if you make the list, I suppose. Loads and loads of followers bearing kudos, hearts, and
bushels and bushels of
validating feedback surely must be grand for those rock stars of mixed media, or cooking,
writing, or pick your profession. The celebrity culture that we live in
promotes the clique, the brand, the top 10.
Me? Not so much.
Of course, I post my art to be seen and write to be read,
but I fly under the radar pretty much,
and have avoided all those "To Do" things
to have a SUCCESSFUL blog.

And so I've come to realize that
I'm just a blah blah blogger, I've found my niche! I love that
my blog is a visual reminder of years of work,
I look forward to what I find blahg worthy,
I am grateful for the friends that I have found here along the way,
and who seem to "get" me.
In Defense of Studio Joy
When I began Cinnamon Studio many moons ago,
my intention was to document my experiences and practice as an artist.
"What happens in the studio, stays in the studio." My thought was
that there would be infinite material to cover without talking about
my personal life (too much), or expounding (too much) on my thoughts
on anything outside the studio door.
I think I have maintained that position fairly well
and it has given me much pleasure to do so.
Dorothy Parker said that boredom is caused by lack of curiosity
and I am endlessly curious about art and all that goes on
in my art space.
"And so it goes." Kurt Vonnegut
The Little Engine That Could
Getting back to Martha Stewart, I really don't see what the beef is,
the outrage, the boycotts!
the outrage, the boycotts!
As long as there is room for everybody to do what they do,
to shmooze or not to shmooze is up for grabs.
On the tracks of the internet, I chug along just fine.
I believe that the work of art is a solitary journey,
pit stops and those on the fast track passing me by, notwithstanding!
