Born and raised in the heart of Germany's formerly industrial Ruhr Area, Katrin Koenning is a photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. She studied photography at the Queensland College of Art, Brisbane. Much of her work explores the ordinary and everyday, and is concerned with notions of place and belonging. Katrin regularly exhibits in Australia and internationally, and her work has been shown at renowned photography festivals such as the New York Photo Festival, Noorderlicht, FORMAT and Voies Off. Katrin’s images are published widely and she has won a number of awards, including the 2012 Annual JGS Award by the Forward Thinking Museum. Katrin is a former Editor of the Australian PhotoJournalist Magazine and is represented by Edmund Pearce Gallery, Melbourne.
