In The Studio

I've been looking for this typewriter for years after I narrowly missed grabbing one on the "recycle day" in Nanaimo. On "recycle day" everyone puts their unwanted items along the front of their yard or at the end of their driveway. These items are free for anyone who wants to pick them up. One year my friend Joan scored four very cool retro chairs.....for free!

Well, the other day I was in one of my favourite thrift shops and found this one (not for free but pretty cheap) and knew I had to have it! The carriage is double the length of the usual typewriter's. This will allow me to type on wider, thicker art papers. Being able to do this will add another dimension to the text I add to my artwork. Usually I use stamps or rub on letters. Now I have another option.

Rather than put the typewrite on a desk I decided to use a side table. It's the perfect height for me to type while standing. I'm standing while I paint so I'm sure I can stand while I type!

Next weekend Nanaimo is having another SWAP-O-RAMA-RAMA. I'm hoping to find some cotton and linen fabric to cut up and maybe a few buttons. Who knows, I might get a whole new wardrobe!

See you on Saturday or Sunday for another Drawing Challenge. This weekends's challenge is hosted by the brilliantly talented, Stefanie at her blog Stefanie Seltner.
